wild roses in slovenia

Redleaf rose (Rosa glauca Pourr.) is one of the most common Slovenian wild roses on Karst and Slovenian Istria, but we can also find it in the interior of Slovenia, primarily on warmer, southern slopes. Once wild rose flower buds start expanding, showing off some of their pink colour, we can see that the summer is slowly approaching. Even though wild roses prefer sunlight, closed wild rose flower buds are the most beautiful when dotted by rain drops. When the sun peaks between the clouds, they shine in all their glory. Raid drops persist for quite some time on their flower buds. Buds slowly open up and flower, slowly covering the glaucous azure-green leaves, until they form one large flowering shrub. When a few of such shrubs connect and flower, they form the most beautiful natural rosarium or an impassable flowering hedge.
